Comfort-fit feel

Comfort fit is standard on the Hitman. Not an upgrade. The inside is domed so the edge does not dig. A slightly rounded interior sits more naturally than a flat interior.

This is the 6mm. Low profile. It covers less of the finger than an 8mm, and it does not fit as snug as an 8mm in the same size. A 6mm and an 8mm in the same size will not feel identical.

Our rings run roughly 30% thinner than the industry standard profile. They sit flush, clear a glove without catching, and stay out of the way when your hands are working.

Everyday wear

Brushed tantalum, deep blue sleeve, on every day. The brushed face hides daily marks better than a mirror polish. Same tantalum as the Operator.

It does not bend like gold. It will dent rather than shatter. It will not shatter if dropped. That is the difference from tungsten, which can shatter on a hard hit.

The F1 carbon backup is the one for the gym and the job site. The Hitman is the one that stays on. The ring you wear every day should not be the one you are afraid to scratch.

Nickel-free on skin

Nickel-free. Inert on skin. That is how this band is sold. Tantalum is nickel-free and biocompatible, used in medical implants, and nearly impervious to corrosion.

The deep blue sleeve is named on the ring. The gunmetal patina is the tantalum. It is not a plating.

Durability and the gunmetal patina

No metal is scratch-proof. The Hitman resists it. Marks are the point. Light marks on the tantalum blend into the gunmetal. It does not look ruined. It looks lived in.

Tantalum marks less easily than gold or titanium. It still scratches. The color is the metal, not a plated finish, so it will not fade or chip the way plating can. Normal wear is not a defect.

Care

Tantalum does not rust or tarnish. It does not react to hand soap, sanitizer, skin oils, chlorine, saltwater, or the chemicals in most cleaning products. Most days, care is nothing. Wear it. Rinse it when you wash your hands. If you work with grit or metal shavings, wipe the Hitman with a soft cloth so debris does not dull the brushed face.

Deeper clean: warm water, mild dish soap without harsh degreasers, soak about ten minutes, soft toothbrush, rinse, lint-free cloth. Skip paper towels. They leave lint and can scratch the face. Skip sandpaper, steel wool, and polishing compounds. A jeweler's polishing cloth brings a brushed face back. Ultrasonic cleaners are fine for the tantalum metal. If a ring has an inlay, stay with soap and water. A mark from day thirty often blends into the gunmetal by month six.

Sizing

These metals do not resize. Measure first. We do not stretch them. A jeweler cannot cut tantalum and solder it the way they would gold. Can tantalum rings be resized.

The Hitman is the 6mm. An 8mm fits snugger than a 6mm in the same size. Whole sizes 8 to 12. No half sizes. Measure at the end of the day. Use a ring you already wear, or the $10 ring sizer: a plastic zip-tie, not a paper strip and not string. It should pass the knuckle with a little resistance, then sit snug.

Between sizes, size up. Wider bands feel tighter. Comfort-fit rings often feel better at a half size smaller than you might expect from a flat interior ring. We do not stock half sizes. Wrong size: free exchange for 90 days from delivery. In an emergency, tantalum can be cut with standard ring cutters.

What is included

F1 carbon backup included with this metal band. Every ring except the F1 includes a free F1 carbon fiber ring. The F1 sold on its own does not include a second backup. Ultralight and chemical resistant, for work and the gym.
